What makes the plasma control system an effective cutting tool?

Plasma cutting is a process of cutting electrically conductive materials by an accelerated jet of hot plasma. The commonly used materials for cutting purposes include steel, aluminum, brass, etc. The plasma cutting process is usually carried out in fabrication shops, repairing and restoration shops, industrial construction, scrapping, etc. Due to excessively high-speeds and precision cuts, plasma is used from large scale industrial applications to small hobbyist shops containing equal numbers of positive ions and electrons. It’s an electrically heated gas stream.

However, putting together a complete plasma isn’t an easy task. It starts with a machine that helps in generating the plasma stream, CNC, software, and ventilation system. It’s much more than that. It includes the motors and the motors play an integral role in providing coordinated and accurate motions for various torches, which could be plasma or oxyfuel.

The CNC plasma control system is commonly used in heavy equipment and shipbuilding industries. These machines are robust enough to withstand for years. They are used for producing thousands of tons of metal parts at excessively high production rates with minimal maintenance.

No matter the price or size, every CNC based plasma has the following components

CNC – It’s the brain of a machine that helps in converting a cutting program into electrical instructions that have to control the cutting direction and speed. It also delivers instructions to the plasma cutter, height controller, and different types of peripheral equipment.

Mechanical components – This machine usually includes a gantry (long axis), Z-axis (for up and down motion), and a torch carriage that manipulates the overall process.

Fume control system – Plasma cutting helps in generating a lot of fumes and smoke. Every process either requires a fume control or a water table control.

However, there is an optional control of automatic height control. Usually, in all cases, every penny is worth the investment. Effective plasma cutting usually relies on two modes. One for piercing, and the other one for cutting. It maximizes the entire consumable life and cut quality. All the components of this machine are robust and precise.
